Kasbah Tebi

Aït Ben Haddou, Morocco

Within these ancient walls, where the only sources of light are sun and flame, history feels tangible and the air rich with memory. It is a place intended for stillness and connection, inviting to pause, to breathe, and to remain present with what is, as is.

As light reveals its component colours upon passing through a prism
so does life refracts itself through me into 18 decillion shades of love:

Juicy, bold, alive with heat
flushed cheeks, fire, lemon joy feet
vibrant, dynamic, flamenco flair
flavoursome, radiant, romance in the air,
raspberry wine,
the zest of my lime.

Cloth—
in fandango pink, hot coral, verdigris green,
sunkissed,
sunburst,
all the “me’s” I’ve ever been,

—woven, embellished by the hands of countless women
once worn and adored by countless women
daughters and mothers celebrating life.

And that very same cloth now fills the space,
disperses itself into a living forest.
That very same cloth now adorns this body — MY body,
as I cover myself in the colours of their ravishing stories.

And through this common thread
I am another you
Same and yet
Brand new.
